A wonderfully characterful vintage French ceramic rabbit terrine by Michel Caugant, dating from the mid-20th century.
Beautifully modelled as a realistic hare or rabbit, this example has particularly attractive dark brown and black colouring with lovely detailing throughout. Michel Caugant animal terrines have become increasingly collectable, and this is a striking decorative piece with plenty of personality.
Originally designed as a serving terrine, today it would look equally at home displayed on a kitchen dresser, open shelving or amongst a collection of vintage ceramics. A lovely addition to an English country or traditional interior.

CONDITION
Presented in good vintage condition overall. There is a chip to the upper body which has been sympathetically repaired. As shown in the photographs, the repair is difficult to notice when the piece is displayed, and the price has been set accordingly.
