A lovely old pine washstand with all the warmth, character and gentle signs of age that make these pieces so appealing.
Made from solid pine, it has a beautifully simple country form with a shaped gallery back and sides, a generous worktop and a central cupboard offering useful concealed storage. The open lower shelf provides plenty of additional space for baskets, towels or everyday pieces, while the original-style wooden towel rail with dark cast brackets is a particularly charming detail.
The pine has been carefully stripped back to reveal its natural grain and warm mellow colouring, retaining the knocks, marks, old fixing holes and variations in tone accumulated over many years. These are very much part of the piece rather than something we have tried to disguise, giving it the relaxed, authentic character that works so well in an English country interior.
Originally designed as a washstand, today it is an incredibly versatile piece. It would make a beautiful bathroom or bedroom washstand, but would work equally well as a kitchen prep table, hallway console or useful storage piece in a utility or boot room.

A wonderfully practical piece of old furniture with plenty of character, good storage and a lovely worn finish. As you can see from the photos is has does have a past life with blemishes, knocks and splits to the wood in areas but it is solid and sturdy and all part of its history and honest patina.
