A handsome antique mahogany chest of drawers, with a beautifully shaped bow front and a wonderfully rich, time-worn finish.
The chest has two smaller drawers over three generous full-width drawers, each retaining its simple turned wooden handles. The gently curved front gives the piece an elegant proportion, while the warm mahogany, visible grain and variations in colour are exactly what give an antique piece like this its character.
There is something very easy about this chest. Despite its age and traditional detailing, its simple form allows it to sit comfortably within both a country interior and a more pared-back contemporary home. A lovely piece for a bedroom, but equally useful in a hallway, landing or living space where a little extra storage is needed.
As with all our antique and vintage furniture, there are signs of age and previous use, including variations to the finish, marks and small imperfections, including some veneer losses. These have been left rather than over restored as they form part of age, character and honest patina. These form part of the history and character of the piece rather than detracting from it.
